Why waiting costs more

A gap doesn't stay a gap.

This is the part most people never get told. A missing tooth quietly changes every tooth around it — and the longer it's left, the more complicated and expensive the fix becomes.

Month 1–6 · Neighbours tilt in

Teeth either side lose support and drift into the space. The opposing tooth over-erupts because nothing meets it.

Year 1–2 · Bone starts shrinking

Unloaded bone resorbs. Less bone later can mean grafting is needed before an implant is even possible.

Year 2+ · The space closes

Once the gap narrows, fitting a proper replacement gets harder — sometimes impossible without straightening first.

Long term · The bite goes uneven

Chewing shifts to one side, cleaning gets awkward, decay follows and more teeth become at risk.

Digital dentistry

Done on a screen before it's done on you.

Five stages. Each removes a guess that used to be made by hand — and lets you see the plan before you agree to it.

Intraoral scanningA digital model of both jaws in minutes
Stage 1 of 5

Scan

A small 3D camera passes over your teeth and builds an accurate digital model of both jaws. It replaces the tray of putty entirely.

What it means for youNo gagging, no setting time, nothing to re-take because the material moved.

Stage 2 of 5

Understand

A 3D CBCT scan shows the bone underneath — its height, its width and where the nerve runs — at a fraction of conventional radiation.

What it means for you"Is there enough bone?" gets answered by measurement, not by opening the gum and finding out.

Plan

The implant's position, angle and depth are decided in software, with the final tooth designed first and the implant placed to suit it.

Stage 4 of 5

Design

Digital smile design sets shape, proportion and midline before anything is made. CAD/CAM then produces the crown, bridge or veneer to that design.

What it means for youYou agree how your teeth will look while it's still a drawing — not after the lab has made them.

Stage 5 of 5

Treat

For guided cases a surgical guide is 3D-printed in the clinic from the approved plan. It seats over your teeth and directs the implant into position.

What it means for youSmaller access, shorter chair time, and a result that follows a decision already made carefully.

What we do

Everything under one roof.

Replacement work is done by the specialist prosthodontist. Other specialists join the case for surgery, gums or orthodontics when a stage calls for it.

No sales pitch

Three honest options —
including what's wrong with each.

Most clinics show you the one they'd like to sell. Here's the comparison you'd get across the desk, drawbacks included, so you can actually make a decision.

Bridge

Neighbouring teeth carry the replacement

  • No surgery needed
  • Finished in weeks, not months
  • Healthy teeth either side must be cut down
  • Doesn't replace the root or protect bone
  • Harder to clean underneath
Closest to a natural tooth

Dental implant

A titanium root fused to your own bone

  • Supported by bone, like a real tooth
  • Neighbouring teeth left completely alone
  • Helps limit bone loss at the gap
  • Brush and floss it like a normal tooth
  • Takes longer — healing is required

Removable denture

A partial or complete prosthesis you take out

  • Least invasive, quickest to provide
  • Replaces many teeth at once, economically
  • Can be stabilised later with implants
  • Removable — takes getting used to
  • Needs periodic adjustment over time

Why patients travel here

Six reasons people choose Dentessence
over the clinic down the road.

A specialist, not a generalist

Replacing teeth has its own recognised specialist — the prosthodontist. Every implant, crown, bridge and denture here is done by one.

Planned in 3D first

Scanning, CBCT and planning software decide the implant's exact position before surgery day. Surprises get solved on a screen, where changing your mind is free.

You get the full picture

Every option, the downside of each, what happens if you do nothing, and an estimate of time and money — before treatment starts.

We stand behind the work

If a crown comes back from the lab with a discrepancy, it goes back to the lab — not into your mouth. What we make stays our responsibility.

No cost-cutting where it counts

Overheads kept deliberately low so the money goes into materials and laboratories — the parts that have to survive in your mouth for a decade.

Built for older patients

Entire clinic on the ground floor, no steps, wheelchair accessible. Elderly appointments scheduled around medication and rest routines.

Nothing to lose

Already been quoted somewhere else?
Come and get a straight answer.

Bring your X-rays, CBCT files or the plan you were given. You'll be told honestly whether the treatment is necessary, whether there's a simpler route, and what happens if you wait. Sometimes the answer is that your existing plan is a good one — and we'll say so.

No obligation, ever

Booking a consultation doesn't commit you to treatment. You leave with information, not a contract.

Straight answers

The questions that stop people booking.

Including the awkward ones about pain and money.

Implant placement is a minor surgical procedure done under local anaesthetic in the clinic, and most patients find it comfortable at the time. Some discomfort for a few days afterwards is normal and is usually well controlled with the pain relief prescribed to you. Fillings, crowns and single-sitting root canals are done under local anaesthetic too.

Nobody can honestly price dental treatment from a website — it depends on your bone volume, how many teeth are involved, the condition of the remaining teeth and which restoration you choose. What we commit to is this: at your first visit you get an estimate of both time and money for every option, in writing, before anything begins, so you can pick a plan that fits your budget.

Maybe not. An implant is one of three sensible ways to replace a missing tooth, and occasionally the honest answer is that the space doesn't need filling at all. You'll be shown the alternatives with their pros and cons before any recommendation is made — and before that, we check whether the tooth can still be saved, because there's no real substitute for your own.

No. Implants are placed under local anaesthetic in the dental clinic itself. You walk in and walk out the same day — no hospital admission, no general anaesthesia.

Age on its own is not a barrier. A medical and physical assessment is carried out first to check suitability. Some conditions — uncontrolled diabetes and heavy smoking among them — are relative risk factors, and they'll be discussed with you honestly rather than glossed over.

For a single implant: placement is usually 30 to 45 minutes, then roughly three to six months of healing before the crown is made. Some cases need a small uncovering step a few weeks before impressions. Crowns, bridges and dentures are much faster. Your own timeline is written down for you at the consultation.

Yes, and it's genuinely welcome — especially before implants, full-mouth rehabilitation or any large restorative plan. Bring your X-rays, scans and the plan you were given. You'll be told what your options are, what happens if you do nothing, and whether a simpler route exists.

You fill in a short medical and dental history. Your mouth is examined with an intra-oral camera and digital radiography where needed. Then the findings are explained, the options set out with their materials and procedures, the consequences of no treatment described, and estimates of time and cost given. You ask questions, and you decide — in your own time.
